Study on synthesis of polyether-type polycarboxylate (PCE) superplasticizer for concrete

Xuân Thắng Ninh , Minh Đạt Trịnh

Abstract

This study presents the synthesis of chemical admixture for Portland cement mortar and concrete - polyether-type polycarboxylate (PCE) superplasticizers are synthesized by isopentyl polyoxyethylene ether (TPEG), methylallyl polyoxyethylene ether (HPEG) and acid acrylic (AA). Experimental results have selected the copolymerization ratio of TPEG and AA along with the conditions of temperature, time and stirring speed to synthesize PCE admixture. Furie-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and 1H NMR nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy confirmed the high polymerization reaction between TPEG and AA.
