Analyzing the effect of shaft-grouting technique to increase bearing capacity of bored pile
Abstract
The paper focuses on analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of Shaft-grouting technique to increase the shaft resistance of bored piles through the pile load test results of non-grouted bored piles and grouted bored piles at Friendship Tower project in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The efficiency of shaft-grouting is assessed by comparing the ratio of the unit friction fs (kN/m2) with NSPT index from the test results of non-grouted bored piles and grouted ones. The results showed that the shaft-grouting increased unit friction by 1.9-2.7 times. The efficiency of shaft-grouting for bored piles in sandy soils is higher than in clayey soils. The numerical simulation by Plaxis 3D was used to analyze the limited load capacity of the non-grouted bored piles and grouted bored piles in the same length. The limited load capacity of grouted pile increases by 25-30% compared to the non-grouted pile.
