Factors affecting the generation of construction waste during construction and proposed solutions to reduce it

Le Hong Duong

Abstract

Construction waste is considered an increasingly important issue as the urbanization process generates a large amount of construction waste. Construction waste negatively impacts the construction industry in particular and the national economy in general, negatively impacts the environment and reduces the efficiency of resource use. Construction waste treatment will contribute to environmental protection in general. Following the development trend, environmental protection is currently an urgent global issue. A comprehensive understanding of the factors that generate construction waste will allow for effective management and reduction of construction waste. Currently, in Vietnam, solutions to reduce the amount of construction waste have not really received attention and investment from contractors. This article will analyze the factors affecting the amount of construction waste generated, including design, management, construction, materials and human behavior. At the same time, propose useful and easy-to-apply solutions for construction engineers and contractors to apply to minimize the amount of construction waste during construction, contributing to sustainable development.
